How to Design a Wedding Album You Will Actually Love
The digital gallery is immediate, but the wedding album is forever. Here is how to approach the album design process with intention, so you end up with a book that tells your story the way you want it told.
Start with your must-have images. Before you open the album design tool, make a list of 20-30 images that absolutely must be in the album. These are the non-negotiables: the first look, the ceremony, specific family groupings, the first dance, and any moments that carry deep personal meaning.
Tell a story, not a highlight reel. Your album should have a narrative arc: getting ready, the ceremony, the celebration, and the quiet moments in between. Resist the temptation to include only the best photos — include the quiet, intimate moments that give your story context.
Vary your layout. Alternate between full-page images, multi-image spreads, and detail pages. This creates visual rhythm and keeps the viewer engaged.
Leave white space. Not every spread needs to be filled edge to edge. White space gives your images room to breathe and creates a more elegant, timeless feel.
Trust your photographer. At Omilia Visuals, we design the first draft of every album. Our clients review, request changes, and approve the final layout. Most couples are surprised by how well the first draft captures their day.
