Why Every Wedding Needs a Second Photographer (Safety Edition)
Beyond creative considerations, there is a practical safety argument for having two photographers at your wedding. Equipment failures happen. Memory cards can corrupt. A second photographer provides built-in redundancy that protects your memories.
In our 150+ wedding portfolio, we have experienced: one camera body failure (sensor malfunction mid-ceremony), two flash unit failures, and one memory card corruption. In every case, the second photographer had the moment covered from a different angle on different equipment.
A second photographer also captures moments that are physically impossible for one person to cover simultaneously: the couple seeing each other for the first time from both perspectives, guests reacting during the ceremony while the couple exchanges vows, and the dance floor and the cake cutting that happen in sequence but overlap.
Our recommendation: every wedding over 50 guests should have a second photographer. Not for luxury — for safety. Our Timeless and Signature collections include a second photographer as standard because we believe it should not be optional.
